The goal of the Pre-Operative Clinic at Tri-State Memorial Hospital is to make your surgical experience at our hospital as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

The care of the planned surgical patient begins with an appointment at our Pre-Operative Clinic. Patients are scheduled for surgery by their surgeon's office and instructed to call the pre-op nurse to schedule their pre-op visit. Patients should plan on 1 to 1.5 hours at the hospital for the appointment.

What's Included in a Pre-Operative Visit:

During the Pre-Operative visit, the surgical patient will speak with a nurse regarding health status, previous procedures, medications and herbal supplements the patient takes and any special instructions for the day of surgery. You may also be seen by a pharmacist to review your medication regime. The nurse will interview the patient and review the health history. The patient's health information will be reviewed with anesthesia, but, in most cases, the patient will not see the anesthesia provider until the day of surgery. After the nurse interview, the patient will complete any tests and patient consultations ordered by their surgeon. These tests might include blood tests with the Laboratory, chest x-ray and electrocardiogram. These tests are very instrumental in making sure that each patient receives individualized, quality care. The pre-operative clinic nurse will also let you know the time you need to be at the hospital on the day of surgery. Normally, this wil be 1 to 2 hours prior to the scheduled surgery time. The pre-op clinic is located on the west back end of the hospital near the Emergency Department entrance.
